The Grey Book Guide
What’s The Grey Book Guide. A growing database that connects LGBTQIA+ Folxs of Color to affirming businesses, with a special focus on rural areas. Businesses, organizations, activists, and grassroots groups that join the list pledge to offer thoughtful, supportive, and high quality service to LGBTQIA+ Folxs of Color.
Why is it called “The Grey Book.” The “Green Book” was a publication used by Black folks during the “Jim Crow” & civil rights era to find safe and welcoming businesses while traveling. The “Lavender List” identifies LGBTQIA+ affirming businesses. When these two colors are combined it creates “Brown,” “Black,” or “Grey.” Therefore, the “Grey Book” identities welcoming businesses for LGBTQIA+ Folxs of Color.
The “Grey Book Guide” is owned and operate by The Motley Consulting Group- and currently being piloted in the Dan River Region & Danville, Virginia. Interested in bringing the “Grey Book” to your area? Scroll to the bottom of the page to send us a message.
